This is what Erik faced
On Saturday April 26th 2008 we learned Erik had been diagnosed with Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma, which apparently invaded his system through his appendix.
The following info is from appendix-cancer.com:
"The signet ring cell type . . . is most commonly found in cancer of the lining of the stomach, but can also develop in the bowel, breast, pancreas, bladder, prostate, appendix or lung. Signet ring cell is a rare type of cancer, and is the rarest of the appendiceal cancers. In the 25 years between 1973 and 1998 there were only 70 reported cases of signet ring appendix cancer in the USA. Signet ring is considered a high-grade, or aggressive, type of cancer."
As you may deduce, Erik had a sizable ass to kick here. Every one of you gave so much of yourselves through your thoughts, your prayers, and your emails: thank you, and bless you all.
